Financing the GIFC Activities
GIFC will finance its various activities to
accomplish its short term and long-term goals in three stages.
The first stage will encompass the next three to
five years and will require approximately $2-3 million per year to complete
its goal (see initial phase activities). GIFC
will rely on government grants, particularly from the various states that
favor the production of fuel ethanol, as well as solicitation of financial
support from individuals, charitable foundations, organizations, and
companies to accomplish its initial phase of activities. In this phase,
the GIFC will also network to recruit companies and individuals from all
walks of life to support the GIFC for its next phase of development.
The goal of the second phase is to partner
with ethanol producers (particularly the farmer-owned ethanol plants) and
establish industrial scale cellulosic ethanol production.
We hope to raise between $50 to $100 million dollars per year from 2010 to
2020. After 2020, the GIFC will be able to generate revenue from marketing
the Purdue yeast, various high value co-products from ethanol production,
as well as special products developed from cellulosic biomass. We believe
that after 2020, the GIFC can be financially self-sufficient to
perpetually support its long-term mission (see www.gifc.org). In this
country, responsible citizens are very generous, and they will support a
good cause. The GIFC will foster our country’s energy independence,
improve the environment, and create jobs that will always remain in our
states. We believe people will join the GIFC and shoulder this
responsibility together. Numerous successful not-for-profit institutes,
such as MRI,
Battelle,
ATCC, and the
Mayo Clinic are also important
business enterprises in this country. We envision the GIFC will be one of
them.
